Title 7 › Chapter 4— NAVAL STORES › § 93
Certain turpentine types named in section 92(c), (e), and (f) and the rosin types already set by the Secretary of Agriculture are the official standards for naval stores until changed. The Secretary may set new standards after giving the trade at least three months' notice and a chance for hearings; those standards take effect three months after they are announced. The Secretary may change any standard but must give at least six months' notice and hearings; changes take effect six months after made. Rosin grades, highest to lowest, are X, WW, WG, N, M, K, I, H, G, F, E, D, B, with “gum rosin” or “wood rosin.” These are called the "Official Naval Stores Standards of the United States" or "United States Standards" and must be used to grade naval stores.
