People born in the Canal Zone on or after February 26, 1904 are U.S. citizens if one or both of their parents was a U.S. citizen when they were born, whether the birth happened before or after this law took effect. People born in the Republic of Panama on or after February 26, 1904 are U.S. citizens if one or both parents was a U.S. citizen employed by the U.S. government or by the Panama Railroad Company (or its successor) when the child was born, whether the birth happened before or after this law took effect.
