Title 8 › Chapter 12— IMMIGRATION AND NATIONALITY › Subchapter III— NATIONALITY AND NATURALIZATION › Part II— Nationality Through Naturalization › § 1453
The Attorney General can cancel citizenship or immigration papers — like naturalization or citizenship certificates, declarations of intention, or other related records — if the Attorney General finds they were illegally or fraudulently obtained or created. Before canceling, the person gets a written notice at their last-known address with the reasons and at least 60 days to show why the document should not be canceled. Canceling the paper only removes the document. It does not change the person’s citizenship.
