The Attorney General and the Secretary of State must build and run a linked entry-and-exit system at U.S. ports and at consular posts abroad under Public Law 106–215. They must use the section 1379 technology standard, keep a database of arrival/departure data from machine‑readable travel documents held by aliens, and make relevant security databases work together for admissibility checks under section 1182. The Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Department of State must use technology that keeps travel and trade safe and efficient, and must consider the North American National Security Program in section 1751.
