The Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Border and Transportation Security must study what technology, equipment, and staff are needed to fix security weak spots at every Customs and Border Protection field office that covers any part of the U.S. border with Canada or Mexico. The Under Secretary must work with the Under Secretary for Science and Technology and the Under Secretary for Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection. The study must be repeated at least every 5 years. The Under Secretary must send a report to Congress with the study’s findings and any legislative recommendations. Congress may provide whatever money is needed to the DHS Directorate of Border and Transportation Security for fiscal years 2006 through 2011 to carry out recommendations from the first study.
