Sole-source dependency

GRAIL's Galleri test depends on several single points of failure in its supply chain. It relies on Illumina as the sole supplier of its next-generation sequencers and associated reagents — and as the sole provider of servicing, maintenance and repair for those sequencers — under the Illumina Supply Agreement, whose royalty obligations survive any termination and where a replacement agreement may not offer comparable pricing or terms. It also sole-sources blood collection tubes from Madison Industries (via the acquired manufacturer Streck) and DNA panels from Twist Bioscience, and relies on a limited number of suppliers for other lab instruments and reagents, with no ability to immediately find replacements. GRAIL mitigates with risk-based safety stock (higher for sole-sourced/vulnerable inputs), but a disruption, price increase, or termination at Illumina in particular would significantly impair its ability to run tests.
