KYMR · CIK 1815442

What Kymera Therapeutics, Inc. told the SEC could break it.

Kymera's sharpest exposure is single-point manufacturing: the drug substance and drug product for its candidates come from a small number of, and in some cases sole-source, contract manufacturers, and it has no second-source arrangements in place — so the loss or disruption of one CMO could halt its preclinical and clinical programs. That supply chain also leans on China: it and its collaborators depend on China-based suppliers and service providers for certain raw materials and services, leaving it exposed to the newly enacted BIOSECURE Act restricting U.S. dealings with certain Chinese biotech firms and to escalating U.S.–China trade restrictions. Trade policy compounds the cost side, with a September 2025 announced 100% tariff on patented drugs (absent expanded U.S. manufacturing) and existing tariffs on the raw materials it needs to make and formulate its product candidates.

In its own words

What could break it.

Sole-source dependency

  • Sole-source CMO supply of drug substance & drug product — no second sourcehigh

Kymera's drug substance and drug product are supplied by a small number of, and in some cases sole-source, contract manufacturers, and it has no second-source arrangements in place — so loss or disruption of a single CMO could halt its preclinical/clinical programs.

The drug substance and drug product in our product candidates are supplied to us from a small number of suppliers, and in some cases sole source suppliers. We rely on and expect to continue to rely on our suppliers to develop our current or future product candidates, and to ultimately supply our commercial drugs in quantities sufficient to meet the market demand. We do not currently have arrangements in place for a second-source supply of all drug product or drug substance.

Geographic concentration

  • China-based supplier/CRO dependence under the BIOSECURE Actmedium

Kymera and its collaborators depend on China-based suppliers and service providers for certain raw materials, products and preclinical/clinical services; the BIOSECURE Act (Section 851 of the NDAA, enacted Dec 18, 2025) restricting U.S. government dealings with certain Chinese biotech firms, plus escalating U.S.–China trade restrictions, could cut off or raise the cost of that supply.

the pharmaceutical industry generally and in some instances we or our collaborators or other third parties on which we rely on depend on China-based suppliers or services providers for certain raw materials, products and services and other activities.

Regulatory & policy

  • 100% tariff on patented drugs & tariffs on manufacturing raw materialsmedium

The September 25, 2025 announced 100% tariff on brand-name/patented drugs (absent U.S. manufacturing expansion), together with tariffs that already apply to the raw materials and inputs needed to manufacture and formulate Kymera's product candidates, raises its development and future commercialization costs.

on September 25, 2025, the current U.S. administration announced a 100% tariff on brand-name or patented drugs unless pharmaceutical companies expand their manufacturing operations in the U.S. While pharmaceutical products are currently excluded from the baseline and "reciprocal" tariffs imposed by the U.S., such tariffs still apply to the raw materials and other products necessary for the manufacture and formulation of our product candidates.
