In its own words
What could break it.
Supplier concentration
- High-specification drilling parts/equipment from a small number of, or single, suppliers — amplified by 2025 tariffsmedium
Valaris depends on third-party suppliers, manufacturers and service providers for the equipment, parts, components and sub-systems used to operate its offshore drilling fleet, and certain high-specification items are available only from a small number of suppliers — or in some cases must be sourced through a single supplier. Supplier consolidation, capacity constraints or delivery disruptions could prevent it from obtaining critical supplies and services at acceptable cost or at all, idling rigs. This single/limited-source exposure is amplified by U.S. tariffs imposed since February 2025 and trade disputes, which raise the cost of imported high-spec drilling components.
“Certain high-specification parts and equipment that we use in our operations may be available only from a small number of suppliers, manufacturers or service providers, or in some cases must be sourced through a single supplier, manufacturer or service provider.”
