The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued Subsequent Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-22 on December 30, 2024, authorizing Northern States Power Company to operate the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant, Unit 1, at reactor core power not in excess of 2,004 megawatts thermal. The NRC's final site-specific environmental impact statement (NUREG-1437, Supplement 26, Second Renewal) concluded that the adverse environmental impacts of subsequent license renewal are not so great as to make preserving the option of renewal unreasonable.
