Open nominations for committee seats

The Department of Veterans Affairs is accepting nominations for the Advisory Committee on Disability Compensation for the 2025-2026 cycle. Nominations must be received by February 3, 2025, no later than 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time; self-nominations are allowed and non-Veterans may be nominated.

Appointees receive stipend and travel costs

Individuals appointed to the Committee will receive a stipend for attending Committee meetings and will get per diem and reimbursement for travel expenses incurred. The Secretary determines pay and allowances, and selected appointees are invited to serve two-year terms (a term of service may not exceed four years and members may be reappointed).

Members advise on disability ratings

The Committee provides a Congressionally mandated biennial report to the Secretary that assesses the VA Schedule for Rating Disabilities (VASRD) and reviews VA programs related to payment of disability compensation. Members meet with VA officials, Veterans Service Organizations, and other stakeholders to assess veterans' needs regarding compensation benefits.
