Foreign-built 12-passenger Coastwise Request

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) received a request to determine whether the foreign-built sailboat Regenero (a 40.6' catamaran) can get coastwise endorsement to carry no more than 12 paying passengers for hire. MARAD will approve the vessel only if it determines the vessel’s employment will not have an "unduly adverse effect" on U.S. vessel builders or U.S. businesses that use U.S.-flag vessels.

Where Regenero Would Operate

The applicant intends to offer passenger cruises with Regenero based in Barrington, Rhode Island, operating in Rhode Island, Maine, New York (excluding the Great Lakes), Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida (excluding the Gulf coast). Interested parties, especially businesses in those states, may submit comments by February 5, 2025.
