Disability reviews and report changes
The RRB uses Form G-254 (Continuing Disability Report) and G-254a to conduct continuing disability reviews (CDRs); these collections (OMB 3220-0187) obtain work, earnings, and medical information that the RRB uses to determine if a disability annuity continues or should be reduced or not paid. The ICR estimates 2,750 annual responses and 753 annual burden hours. Proposed revisions to G-254 add “Sleeping” to activity lists, remove the word “even” in an answer choice, and add a question about memory/concentration (question 31e).
Railroad employee annuity forms continued
The Railroad Retirement Board will keep using Forms AA-1, AA-1cert, AA-1sum, AA-1d, and G-204 to decide eligibility and payment amounts for employee retirement and disability annuities under OMB Control No. 3220-0002. Completion of these forms is required to obtain or retain benefits; the ICR lists a total of 10,830 annual responses and an estimated 6,902 annual burden hours. Proposed edits to Form AA-1d include updating the date to 06/06/24, adding “Sleeping” to an activity list, and adding a question about memory/concentration (question 35b).
Survivor annuity application updates
The RRB will continue using Forms AA-17 series (AA-17, AA-17b, AA-17cert, AA-17sum, AA-19a) under OMB Control No. 3220-0030 to determine entitlement and amounts for survivor annuities; completion is required to obtain benefits. The notice estimates 3,410 annual responses and 1,314 annual burden hours, and proposes edits such as updating dates to 12/13/24, adding “Sleeping” to activity lists, adding memory/concentration questions (e.g., question 34b/29b), and removing a specific word in certification language.
