Albania invited to develop MCC compact
On January 7, 2025, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Board selected Albania as eligible to develop a Millennium Challenge Compact for Fiscal Year 2025 and invited Albania to develop a compact. The selection follows the MCC Candidate Country Reform Act enacted on December 23, 2024, and MCC noted that Albania passed 15 of 20 scorecard indicators and that 14 percent of its population lives on less than $6.85 per day.
Candidate pool aligned to $7,895 GNI threshold
The Board used new authority from the MCC Candidate Country Reform Act to align the MCC candidate-country income threshold with the World Bank threshold of $7,895 gross national income (GNI) per capita for Fiscal Year 2025. This change allowed MCC to consider additional countries newly included for MCC assistance under the FY 2025 selection process.
