Return of one Native American burial and 40 artifacts
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests intends to return the physical remains of one Native American female and 40 associated funerary objects (about nine stone beads, 29 stone debris pieces, and two small lithic flakes) starting February 18, 2025. These items are affiliated with the Mogollon culture and will be given to a lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization with priority for disposition.

The notice states that the Hopi of Arizona; Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico; and the Zuni Tribe of the Zuni Reservation, New Mexico have priority for disposition of the human remains and associated funerary objects based on cultural affiliation.
