Return of Native American Remains to Tribes
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District intends to return the remains of at least eight Native American individuals and at least 10 associated funerary objects (including a pocketknife, a .22 caliber bullet, a brooch, and coffin hardware) to lineal descendants or tribes. The Chickasaw Nation has priority for disposition; claims may be submitted starting February 18, 2025, and if no claim is received by January 20, 2026 the remains and objects will be treated as unclaimed.
