You must acknowledge DEA pre-employment drug policy

If you apply for a job with the DEA, you will be asked to complete Form DEA-200 to acknowledge the agency's Pre-Employment Drug Policy. Providing the acknowledgement is not mandatory, but an applicant can be disqualified in the hiring process for failing to provide it; DEA estimates about 5,000 applicants will be asked to complete the form.

Time and annual cost burden for applicants

DEA estimates the DEA-200 form will be completed by 5,000 respondents, takes about 7 minutes per response, for a total annual burden of 583 hours and an estimated total annual cost burden of $19,040.78.

Form edited to reduce polygraph confusion

The DEA edited the content and questions on Form DEA-200 to eliminate confusion between job applicants and polygraphers before a pre-employment polygraph examination. The form also asks applicants to acknowledge their understanding of requirements to move forward in the hiring process.
