Federal Employees: Return to Office
If you work for an executive-branch department or agency, you must end remote work and return to your usual duty station to work full-time, effective "as soon as practicable" under the January 20, 2025 memorandum. The memorandum applies to heads of all executive departments and agencies and directs termination of remote work arrangements on a full-time in-person basis.
Agency Heads May Grant Exemptions
Department and agency heads may grant exemptions to the return-to-office requirement if they deem them necessary, per the January 20, 2025 memorandum. These exemptions are discretionary and must be made by the relevant department or agency head.
