Summary

This new order makes sure the government protects your right to own and carry guns, a key part of American freedom. The Attorney General has 30 days to review recent rules and actions that might limit these rights and then create a plan to fix that. 30-Day Attorney General Review

The Attorney General must, within 30 days of February 7, 2025, examine executive-branch orders, regulations, guidance, plans, international agreements, and other actions to assess any ongoing infringements on Second Amendment rights and present a proposed plan of action to the President. The review is expressly to cover actions from January 2021 through January 2025 where relevant.

Review of DOJ/ATF Rules and Licensing

The Attorney General's required review must, at minimum, examine DOJ rules (including Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives rules), agencies' classifications of firearms and ammunition, the processing of applications to make, manufacture, transfer, or export firearms, and agency actions related to Federal firearms licensees for the period January 2021 through January 2025. The review also must look at agencies' enforcement policies, related White House reports, and the United States' litigation positions that could affect Second Amendment rights.
