Haiti TPS Shortened to 12 Months

The Department of Homeland Security reduced Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation from 18 months to 12 months, so the Haiti TPS extension and new designation now expire on August 3, 2025, instead of February 3, 2026. This change affects the groups counted in the June 4, 2024 decision: about 199,445 Haitian nationals covered by the extension and about 321,349 additional nationals newly designated — over half a million people in total.

First-Time Registration Deadline Moved Up

First-time registration for the new Haiti TPS designation now closes on August 3, 2025, instead of February 3, 2026. If you are a Haitian national who intended to register for TPS for the first time, you must register by August 3, 2025.
