State Water Quality Certifications Required
The project requires a Clean Water Act section 401 water quality certification from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. Mountain Valley must submit copies of each request and either the certifying agency's decision or evidence of waiver to the Commission.

Environmental Review Timing and Notices
Within 90 days of this notice, Commission staff will either complete the environmental review and place it in the public record or issue a Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review. If a Notice of Schedule is issued, it will identify the anticipated date for the final environmental impact statement or environmental assessment, and federal authorizations must be completed within 90 days after issuance of the FEIS or EA.
