Dassault Falcons Grounded for Spoiler Leak Repairs

Published Date: 4/7/2025

Proposed Rule

Summary

If you fly a Dassault Falcon 7X, listen up! The FAA wants to fix a problem where a part controlling the spoilers might cause leaks and overheating. They’re asking to replace certain control units soon to keep flights safe and avoid costly repairs.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Stops hydraulic leaks and overheating

The FAA proposes a rule for all Dassault Aviation Model FALCON 7X airplanes to address hydraulic leakage and overheating. The rule would require replacing affected spoiler electrical control units (SPECUs) because a SPECU can send an untimely command that may cause the spoiler power control unit standby pump to overheat and leak.

Required part replacement and installation ban

The proposed AD would require replacement of affected SPECUs and would prohibit installing the affected parts on all Dassault Falcon 7X airplanes, as specified in the incorporated EASA AD. Operators and maintenance providers must comply with the replacement requirement and may not install the listed affected parts.
