SSA Updates Wage Check Forms, Seeks Public Input

Published Date: 4/4/2025

Notice

Summary

The Social Security Administration wants to update and extend some forms they use to check workers’ earnings when records don’t match. Employers might get asked to confirm wage info, but only if SSA can’t find it themselves. They’re asking for public feedback by June 3, 2025, to make sure the process is clear and easy, with no extra hassle or cost.

Selected Beneficiaries Face Quality-Review Requests

SSA will use several forms (for example SSA-2930, SSA-2931, SSA-4659 and related notices) to conduct telephone reviews and quality checks of a statistical sample of OASDI beneficiaries and representative payees. The notice lists 18,215 total respondents, about 2,525 total annual burden hours, and a theoretical opportunity cost of $199,337.
