Midwest Gains 473,000 Dth/Day Capacity

ANR's Heartland Project would add up to 473,000 dekatherms per day of incremental firm natural gas transportation capacity to meet market demand in the Midwest United States. The application was filed February 20, 2025 and the project is proposed to serve Midwest markets including locations in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Local Construction and Environmental Concerns

The Project would install about 68.9 miles of new pipeline, replace about 1.5 miles with a 30-inch diameter line, build three new compressor stations totaling 25,150 horsepower and add a 19,500 hp unit at an existing station, and install two new meter stations while upgrading three others. These construction activities are located in specified counties in Wisconsin (Brown, Racine, Sheboygan, Waukesha, Winnebago) and Illinois (Bureau, Kendall, Kane, McHenry, Will) and the environmental assessment will address topics such as threatened/endangered species, land use, water resources, cultural resources, climate change, socioeconomics, noise, air quality, safety, and health effects.
