DISA Speeds Up Driver Drug Tests for Entertainment – Hollywood Hires Faster

Summary
FMCSA is renewing a special rule for DISA Entertainment Compliance Solutions, letting them do a quick drug and alcohol check on commercial drivers before hiring. If the quick check shows a problem, a full check is needed before the driver can work. This keeps things safe while making hiring faster for DECS members who use commercial drivers.

DECS members allowed limited Clearinghouse check
FMCSA renewed an exemption letting DISA Entertainment Compliance Solutions (DECS) members run a limited (quick) query of the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse before hiring commercial driver's license (CDL) holders. This lets DECS members check for Clearinghouse records earlier so hiring for projects can start faster.
Drivers barred until full Clearinghouse query clears
If a limited query shows information about a driver in the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, the driver is not allowed to perform safety-sensitive functions unless and until a full query shows the driver is not prohibited from operating a commercial motor vehicle. That means a driver with a Clearinghouse hit cannot begin safety-sensitive work for a DECS member until a subsequent full query clears them.
