Pipeline construction deadline pushed to 2027

Texas Gas Transmission asked the Commission for a two-year extension to finish its North Lake Pagie/Bay Junop-Bay Round Abandonment Project, moving the deadline to June 26, 2027. The project had originally been required to be available for service by June 26, 2019 and the current deadline before this request is June 26, 2025.

Permit talks and wildlife listings delaying project

Texas Gas says it has had trouble securing a Coastal Use Permit with agencies and landowners and that new species listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the project area will require re-consultation with USFWS. These obstacles are given as reasons for seeking the two-year extension.

15-day public comment and intervention window

The Commission establishes a 15-calendar-day period for intervention and comment on the extension request; comments must be filed by 5:00 p.m. Eastern on June 13, 2025. Anyone wishing to become a party must file a motion to intervene by that date following the Commission's rules.

If contested, FERC aims to rule within 45 days

The Commission says that for contested extension requests it will aim to issue an order within 45 days and that it will not re-litigate the original certificate order or the Commission's environmental analysis under NEPA when deciding the extension.
