Large Natural Gas Storage Expansion

Golden Triangle Storage proposes to add 30.75 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of working gas and 24.2 Bcf of base gas capacity at the Spindletop facility in Jefferson County, Texas. The company says the expansion would enhance customers' ability to move natural gas to and from storage on very short notice and at high rates of flow.

Environmental Assessment and Public Comment

FERC staff will prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Spindletop Expansion and will issue the EA on October 3, 2025, followed by a 30-day public comment period. The Commission's Office of Public Participation offers help to landowners, Tribal members, community groups, and others who want to access information or submit comments.

Local Drainage/Flooding Concerns Addressed

A nearby business, Tri-Con, Inc., commented that the Project may worsen drainage and flooding at its facility and asked GTS to complete a hydrologic and hydraulic analysis. The notice says all substantive comments, including this concern, will be addressed in the EA.
