If you run a motor carrier or drive commercial motor vehicles that are subject to the record of duty status rule, your carrier must install and you must use an electronic logging device (ELD) to report your record of duty status (RODS). The RODS reported by ELDs help enforcement officials determine whether drivers are following hours-of-service rules that limit driving and require rest.
