Notice

Summary

Northwest Pipeline LLC wants to upgrade some equipment in Lincoln County, Wyoming, to keep their gas pipeline running smoothly. The government is asking the public to share their thoughts on how this project might affect the environment before making a final decision. If you care about local nature or community impacts, now’s the time to speak up—comments are due by July 11, 2025.

Analyzed Economic Effects

5 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Land Taken and Permanently Used

The project would disturb about 29.06 acres of land in Lincoln County, Wyoming during construction. After construction, Northwest would keep about 8.63 acres for permanent operation and restore the rest to former uses.

New Turbine May Affect Air and Noise

The project would install one Solar Mars 90 gas-fired turbine with about 13,220 ISO-rated horsepower near the existing Kemmerer Compressor Station. FERC will evaluate air quality and noise impacts in the environmental review, which could affect nearby residents' air and sound conditions.

Historic Properties and Tribal Consultation

FERC is starting consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act with the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office, interested Indian tribes, and the public about effects on historic properties. The environmental document will record findings and summarize the status of these consultations.

Public Comment Deadline and How to Comment

You can submit comments about the project to FERC by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 11, 2025. Comments may be filed via eComment, eFiling (with eRegister), or by mailing a paper copy referencing Docket No. CP25-204-000 to the Commission's addresses listed in the notice.

Landowners Given Eminent Domain Fact Sheet

Northwest provided landowners a FERC fact sheet called 'An Interstate Natural Gas Facility On My Land? What Do I Need To Know?' that addresses questions including the use of eminent domain and how to participate in proceedings. The fact sheet is available on FERC's website under Natural Gas, Landowner Topics.
