Pipeline Work to Maintain Safe Gas Service
Texas Eastern proposes to excavate, elevate, replace, and reroute pipeline segments between approximately 4,000 feet and 8,500 feet in Greene County (Richhill and Center Townships), Pennsylvania to allow safe and efficient operation during sub-surface longwall mining. Activities are anticipated to occur between 2026 and 2028 and include removing two non-operational pipeline segments and returning or rerouting up to four pipelines after mining.
Potential Subsidence Risk to Water Resources
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency commented that the EA should address environmental effects that potential subsidence from longwall mining could have on nearby water resources. FERC staff said all substantive comments, including this concern about water resources, will be addressed in the EA.
Environmental Assessment and Public Comment Window
FERC will issue an environmental assessment (EA) for the Longwall Mining Panel M1 Project on October 10, 2025, and the EA will be available for a 30-day public comment period. Local residents, landowners, Tribal members, and other stakeholders in Pennsylvania can use FERC's eSubscription service and the Office of Public Participation to receive notices and file comments during that period.
