You can submit formal comments about the Wild Trail Project to FERC by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on August 8, 2025. Comments may be filed electronically via eComment or eFiling on www.ferc.gov, or by mail referencing Docket No. CP25-497-000; public input will be used to shape the environmental review.
Permanent land converted for compressor station use
Construction would require about 20.25 acres of land near the Clay Basin Meter Station, including 15.86 acres on Bureau of Land Management land and 4.39 acres of temporary workspace in Ashley National Forest. After construction and restoration, about 6.77 acres would be permanently converted to natural gas use for the Daggett Compressor Station.
Multiple environmental resource areas will be evaluated
FERC staff will evaluate the project's effects on geology and soils; water resources and wetlands; vegetation and wildlife; threatened and endangered species; cultural resources; land use; socioeconomics; air quality and noise; and reliability and safety. The environmental document (EA or EIS) will study these topics and possible ways to avoid or lessen impacts.
BLM and Forest Service as cooperating agencies
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service have agreed to be cooperating agencies on the environmental review and will participate in preparation of the EA or EIS. The BLM states it will use the EA to consider issuing a right-of-way for the proposed Wild Trail Compressor Facility under Section 28 of the Mineral Leasing Act.
Historic properties consultation begins under Section 106
FERC is initiating consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act with the Utah State Historic Preservation Office, Tribes, other agencies, and the public to identify and address potential effects on historic properties. The environmental document will summarize the status of those consultations and findings.
Landowners were sent FERC eminent domain fact sheet
Northwest provided landowners with FERC's fact sheet titled "An Interstate Natural Gas Facility On My Land? What Do I Need To Know?" which covers common questions including the use of eminent domain and how to participate in the proceeding. The fact sheet and other landowner materials are available on FERC's website.
