Sprinter vans: NHTSA finds tire/rim noncompliance inconsequential
Mercedes‑Benz found that certain model year 2019–2020 Mercedes‑Benz Sprinter and 2019–2020 Freightliner Sprinter vehicles did not fully comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110 (tire selection and rims) for vehicles with a GVWR of 5,536 kg (10,000 lb) or less. Mercedes‑Benz filed a noncompliance report dated July 15, 2020, petitioned NHTSA on August 6, 2020, and this notice announces that NHTSA granted the petition, finding the noncompliance inconsequential as it relates to motor vehicle safety. If you own one of these vans, the agency accepted Mercedes‑Benz's view that the issue does not affect safety.
