Summary

Mercedes-Benz found a safety issue with some 2020 CLA 250 cars but asked the government to say it’s no big deal. The government said no way—this problem matters and can’t be ignored. If you own one of these cars, this means the issue won’t be swept under the rug, and fixes might be coming.

NHTSA Denies Mercedes' Safety Exemption

Mercedes filed a noncompliance report dated May 11, 2020 and petitioned NHTSA on June 3, 2020 to call the noncompliance inconsequential; this notice announces NHTSA denied that petition.
