NEPA Environmental Review Begins
Central Hudson has started the pre-filing and NEPA review process for two hydroelectric projects on the Wallkill River in Ulster County, New York (Sturgeon Pool at RM 0.6 and Dashville at RM 2.3). Commission staff will prepare either an environmental assessment (EA) or an environmental impact statement (EIS) that will consider site-specific and cumulative environmental effects and reasonable alternatives.
Public Comments & Study Requests Due
Anyone may submit comments on the Pre-Application Document (PAD), Scoping Document 1 (SD1), and study requests; all such comments, study requests, and cooperating agency requests must be filed with FERC by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on September 27, 2025.
In-Person Scoping Meetings in Poughkeepsie
FERC staff will hold two scoping meetings on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in Poughkeepsie, New York: a daytime meeting from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT and an evening meeting from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EDT at the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton Poughkeepsie. These meetings collect input on the scope of the NEPA documents.
Site Visit RSVP, PPE, and Transport
Central Hudson and FERC staff will hold an environmental site review on Friday, August 28, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT; interested participants must RSVP to Katie Raine by August 20, 2025 and provide a photocopy of a photo ID. Attendees must wear closed-toe shoes or boots, hard hats, and safety glasses (PPE); Central Hudson will provide bus transport from the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton Poughkeepsie departing promptly at 9:00 a.m. (arrive by 8:45 a.m.).
