Venture Global's LNG Boom: Louisiana Parish Weighs Environmental Fate
Published Date: 8/1/2025
Notice
Summary
Venture Global LNG plans to expand its facilities in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, and the government wants your thoughts on how this might affect the environment. They’re asking for public comments by August 28, 2025, to help decide if the project should move forward. This is your chance to speak up about possible impacts and suggest ways to protect the area while the project is being reviewed.
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.
Large land disturbance and permanent footprint
The planned Plaquemines Expansion would disturb about 560 acres for construction, add a 586-acre temporary workspace during construction, and leave about 400 acres maintained for permanent operation; the remaining acreage would be restored and revert to former uses. If you are a local landowner, your property could be used temporarily or permanently for the project and may be included on FERC's environmental mailing list.
How to comment and scoping session dates
You can submit comments on the project's environmental scope by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on August 28, 2025, by eComment, eFiling, mail, or in person. Two public scoping sessions are scheduled in Louisiana: August 12, 2025, 5:00-7:00 p.m. CST at Belle Chasse Auditorium, Belle Chasse, LA, and August 13, 2025, 5:00-7:00 p.m. CST at YMCA Port Sulphur, Port Sulphur, LA.
Refiling prior comments required
If you submitted comments on this project to FERC before the docket opened on March 6, 2025, you must file those comments in Docket No. PF25-7-000 to ensure they are considered in this proceeding.
