Proposed Flood Map Changes
FEMA is proposing changes to flood maps that may add or modify Base Flood Elevation (BFE), base flood depth, Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries or zone designations, or regulatory floodways on the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and, where applicable, the supporting Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports for the communities listed. If you live in or own property in one of the listed communities, these map changes might change whether your property is in a flood zone and could affect flood insurance rules and costs.
Community NFIP Participation Requirement
The Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report are the basis for floodplain management measures that a community is required to adopt or show evidence of having in effect to qualify or remain qualified for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Communities listed in the notice must address these measures to maintain NFIP participation, which underlies local flood insurance availability and rules.
