New Blue Food Color Approved

Starting June 26, 2025, the FDA allows galdieria extract blue to be used safely as a color additive in many foods and drinks when used at levels consistent with good manufacturing practice (GMP). The rule lists uses including non-alcoholic beverages, fruit drinks and smoothies, dairy-based drinks, breakfast cereal coatings, hard and soft candy, ice cream and frozen desserts, puddings, whipped toppings, and similar products.
