Cargo, container, and safety code changes on agenda

These topics are on the CCC 11 agenda at IMO Headquarters in London for September 08–12, 2025 and were part of the U.S. preparatory meeting on August 26, 2025.

Free public meeting; RSVP by August 12

The Department of State will hold a free public meeting at 10:00 a.m. on August 26, 2025, in-person at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters (Washington, DC) and via Microsoft Teams. The teleconference can handle up to 500 participants and anyone who wants to attend must RSVP by August 12, 2025; requests for reasonable accommodation should also be made by August 12, 2025.

Agenda includes alternative-fuel rules

CCC 11 will consider development of guidelines for alternative fuels and related technologies, including use of ammonia cargo as fuel and measures supporting reduced greenhouse gas emissions from ships using new technologies and alternative fuels. These agenda items will be discussed at the IMO session in London from September 08–12, 2025, following the August 26, 2025 U.S. preparatory meeting.
