Published Date: 9/2/2025
Rule
Summary
Starting September 2, 2025, the Department of Labor is officially wiping away old rules from the Workforce Investment Act, which was replaced by a newer law back in 2014. This change affects states and local programs that used to follow those outdated rules, but since all the old funding is gone, it’s time to clean house. No new money is involved—just a smart move to keep things clear and current!

Removal of old WIA Title I rules
Starting September 2, 2025, the Department of Labor will remove the regulations that implemented Title I of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) from the Code of Federal Regulations. Title I was repealed when the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) became law on June 22, 2014, and the Department says all remaining WIA Title I grant funding has been closed out, with no new money involved.
