These surveys and quick polls will take about 30 minutes on average and are totally voluntary and anonymous. The public has 30 more days to share their thoughts before the plan moves forward, helping NIST make smarter decisions without wasting anyone’s time or money.

NIST will collect voluntary feedback from about 40,000 people and organizations to evaluate its programs. The public has 30 more days from the September 19, 2025 notice to comment before the collection proceeds.

Responding will take varied time: as little as 2 minutes for a reply card or about 1 hour for a structured instrument, with an overall average response time of 30 minutes. NIST estimates total respondent burden of 20,000 hours across all responses.

All data collections covered by this clearance will be voluntary and NIST will take steps to assure respondent anonymity. NIST will not collect information that is required or regulated.
