New PVC Gas-Pipe Standard Required
If you work with gas pipelines or run a pipeline company, starting July 1, 2025 you must follow the updated ASTM F2817 standard for PVC gas pressure pipe and fittings used in repairs and maintenance. PHMSA amended 49 CFR part 192 to incorporate the updated ASTM F2817. The agency says no extra costs are expected and the change is meant to make gas pipelines safer and more reliable.
