Annual Reports Required to Continue
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is renewing the annual information collection called "Annual Report of Class I and Class II For-Hire Motor Carriers" (OMB Control No. 2126-0032). If you are a Class I or Class II for-hire motor carrier of property or a Class I for-hire passenger carrier, you must continue to file annual reports (Form M or Form MP-1) collecting financial, operating, equipment, and employment data.
Estimated Time and Respondent Counts
FMCSA estimates 12 total respondents (4 per year) and an estimated time per response of 9 hours for Form M and 0.3 hours for Form MP-1. The agency reports an estimated total annual burden of 36 hours (36 hours for Form M and 0 hours for Form MP-1).
Reported Decrease in Industry Costs
FMCSA reports that labor costs to industry decreased by $12,491 annually, mailing costs decreased by $30 annually, and Federal Government annual costs decreased by $68 compared to the previously approved information collection. The decreased estimates reflect fewer expected Form M respondents (from 34 to 4 annual respondents for Form M).
Electronic Filing and Public Availability
FMCSA states that annual reports may be prepared, signed electronically, and submitted via https://ask.fmcsa.dot.gov/app/ask/, and that collected reports are available to the public when requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
