Byzantine Art Approved for U.S. Exhibit
On November 18, 2025, the U.S. Department of State determined that certain culturally significant Byzantine objects may be temporarily imported for the exhibition "New Rome: The Art of Byzantium" at The Art Institute of Chicago and at possible additional venues. The Department found the temporary display of these objects in the United States to be in the national interest.
