Dresden Units 2 & 3 License Renewed
On December 16, 2025, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued Subsequent Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-19 and DPR-25 to Constellation Energy Generation, LLC, authorizing Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, to operate at reactor core power levels not in excess of 2,957 megawatts thermal. The licenses document that the NRC staff determined the application meets the standards of the Atomic Energy Act and NRC regulations.
NRC Finds Environmental Impacts Acceptable
The NRC's final supplemental environmental impact statement (NUREG-1437, Supplement 17, Second Renewal), dated September 2025, concluded that the adverse environmental impacts of subsequent license renewal for Dresden are "not so great that preserving the option of SLR for energy planning decisionmakers would be unreasonable." The NRC issued a Record of Decision supporting the licensees' subsequent renewed licenses on December 16, 2025.
