Volunteer Board Members Can Be Reimbursed

If you are a volunteer board member at a federal credit union (FCU), your FCU board could adopt a written policy to reimburse reasonable dependent care costs when you attend board meetings or perform official duties. The proposed amendment would change 12 CFR 701.33 to include "dependent care costs," defined by reference to 26 U.S.C. 21(b), and such payments would be discretionary (the FCU board may permit or prohibit them). Comments on the proposal are due March 27, 2026.
