Pipeline upgrade to boost gas reliability
You may get more reliable natural gas service in Shelby County, Alabama because Southern Natural Gas Company proposes to increase the maximum operating pressure on a 12-mile segment of the 6-inch Bessemer Calera Pipeline (from Milepost 23 to Milepost 34), replace 0.02 miles of pipe, abandon the Cheney Lime Lateral Line and related meter facilities, and perform hydrostatic pressure tests on several pipelines. The company says the $12.7 million Bessemer Calera 2.0 Project will improve access to domestic natural gas supply, support market area growth, and increase the overall reliability of energy infrastructure for homes and businesses in the area.
