PHMSA is holding the Pipeline Safety R&D Forum in Washington, DC on March 31–April 1, 2026 (8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.). The meeting is open to the public at no cost, but online pre-registration opens March 9, 2026 and closes Thursday, March 26, 2026; on-site registration begins at 7:00 a.m. both days.

Meeting presentations posted within 30 days

PHMSA will make meeting presentations available on the meeting website and on regulations.gov (Docket PHMSA-2025-0017) no later than 30 days after the March 31–April 1, 2026 meeting, so people who do not attend can view the materials.

Year‑round public input via R&D gap portal

PHMSA accepts public input on pipeline safety research gaps year-round through the R&D gap portal (https://primis.phmsa.dot.gov/rd/gap-suggestions/), allowing the public to suggest research needs outside the March 31–April 1, 2026 Forum dates.
