Pot Gear Catcher/Processor Pacific Cod Closure
If you are a catcher/processor using pot gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI), directed fishing for Pacific cod is closed from 1200 A.l.t. on March 30, 2026 through 1200 A.l.t. on September 1, 2026. The closure was issued because the A season allowance of 896 metric tons for this sector would be or has been reached under the 2026 harvest specifications.
Retention Limits During Closure
While the closure is in effect, catcher/processors using pot gear in the BSAI may only retain amounts allowed by the maximum retainable amounts in 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) at any time during a trip. This restriction applies for the same period as the directed fishing closure.
