Removal of Outdated Export Reporting Rule
The Department of Commerce removes 15 CFR part 1300, an old rule about reports on exports of technology that was based on a repealed law (section 411 of the Trade Act of 1974). This change is effective April 17, 2026, and the Department says it will reduce public confusion and administrative hassle with little to no cost to the public.
No New Paperwork Requirements
The rule states it will not impose additional reporting or recordkeeping requirements under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. That means the Department is not adding new federal paperwork burdens as part of this change.
