Published Date: 4/24/2026

Notice

Summary

The U.S. is launching investigations to see if cheap imports of Tris and Tris HCl from China are hurting American businesses. These chemicals might be sold unfairly low or getting special help from the Chinese government. A decision on this will come by June 5, 2026, which could lead to new duties or rules to protect U.S. makers.

Antidumping and Subsidy Probes Opened

The U.S. International Trade Commission has started antidumping and countervailing duty investigations into Tris and Tris HCl from China. The probe, filed April 21, 2026, will determine if those imports are sold below fair value or subsidized by the Government of China and if they materially injure U.S. industry; a preliminary determination is due by June 5, 2026.

Possible Duties Could Raise Import Costs

Because the investigations allege dumping and subsidies, they could lead to new antidumping or countervailing duties or other rules to protect U.S. makers. If duties are imposed following the investigation, importers and purchasers of Tris and Tris HCl could face higher costs; the Commission must reach a preliminary decision by June 5, 2026, and transmit views by June 12, 2026.
