Volunteer IRS Advisory Council Seats
You can apply to serve on the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council beginning January 2027. Members serve three-year volunteer terms, applications are due by June 5, 2026, and travel expenses within government guidelines will be reimbursed.
Mandatory Clearance and Background Checks
If you apply, you will undergo a clearance process that includes tax checks, a Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check, and a practitioner check with the Office of Professional Responsibility per Treasury Directive 21-03.
